Our Essential Beliefs
Here lies the heart of Creating Refuge— the “essentials” of the beliefs, values, and doctrine that drive our mission and ministry.
Scripture & Authority
We believe the Bible is the inspired and trustworthy Word of God, revealing who He is and who we are in Christ, and that it is our final authority.
The Nature of God
We believe only the one true God is worthy to be on the throne of our lives.
We believe God is sovereign, God is good, and He loves us.
We believe God sees you. He knows your pain, fears, disappointments, anxieties, hopes, and dreams, and He believes you are worthy of being loved.
The Person & Work of Jesus Christ
We believe our relationship with God is not defined by our behavior, but by the work of Christ on our behalf.
We believe we are clothed in His righteousness because of the finished work of Jesus. We are holy.
We believe we are no longer sinners striving to become godly, but saints made righteous in Christ.
We believe Jesus invites us into His yoke, allowing Him to shoulder our burdens and carry the weight of our load.
We believe our lives must be built on a firm foundation—living out the teachings of Jesus and believing what He says is true about us.
Identity in Christ
We believe we are born of the Spirit and given new life, with new meaning, new purpose, new motives, new perspectives, and a new refuge.
We believe our new identity is secure and rests on the firm foundation of Jesus. Nothing can disrupt that identity.
We believe we are wanted, chosen, and adopted as one of God’s own family, and that it gives Him pleasure.
We believe His love cannot be earned; it can only be received.
We believe deeper peace flows from trusting our identity in Christ—that we are completely known and accepted as beloved sons and daughters.
Grace
We believe grace is a gift freely given, never earned.
We believe grace allows us to be vulnerable and authentic, safe and free to be who God created us to be.
We believe we can bring every hidden space of our lives into the light, trusting that we are fully known and fully loved.
The Sacred Home
We believe the home is more than a place to live. It is a sacred space where the love and grace of God abound.
We believe you are worthy of order in your life and in your home.
We believe God desires us to become who He created us to be.
Community & Eternal Hope
Creating Refuge is grounded in grace and expressed through community, coming alongside one another in mutual trust and hospitality.
We believe God has adopted us into His family and prepared a forever table with Jesus, even now.
We believe eternity does not begin the day we die; eternity begins now.
